Press Release: SB 94 passes the New Hampshire House of Representatives

For Immediate release 06/03/2021 : Today, during a one of two day house session the New Hampshire House of Representatives passed SB 94 relative to juvenile diversion programs. Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) a cosponsor on this bill released the following statement:

“As a cosponsor on such an important piece of legislation, I am more then happy with the work that Senator Carson has done to get this bill passed, and am honored to be involved! This bill would allow a police officer to refer a juvenile to a diversion program without having to take the minor into custody. This is a huge step in the right direction, and will bring down the recidivism rate of juveniles going in and out of the Sununu center. As a youth who has spent time in the juvenile justice system, this is an important step in the right direction.”

Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) is a member of the Children and Family Law committee. Cody has been open about his time in the juvenile justice system, and is a huge supporter of its much needed reform.

Press Release: HB 293 passes the New Hampshire House of Representatives

During the New Hampshire House of Representatives session HB 293 prime sponsored by Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) passed the house.

Today the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to pass House Bill 293. New Hampshire adopting families will soon be able to breath with relief as this bill will speedup the process for adoptions for families across the state. The bill now moves on to the Senate. Rep. Cody Belanger the sponsor of the bill released the following statement:

“New Hampshire families filing for adoption who have had a child placed in their home for 2 years or more will soon be able to waive a home study in their case provided their situation applies. The long rigorous process to adopt a child needs to be faster while still protecting the best interests of the child, with the passage of this bill it would allow home studies to be waived after 2 years, not 3. As promised I will continue to fight for vulnerable children and their families. I want to thank all of the co-sponsors, everyone on the committee, and all of my colleagues who voted in support of this bill this is one step forward of many in the right direction for our families in the granite state.”

Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) is a member of the Children and Family Law committee. Cody and his wife Emily are adopting their nephew, and are familiar with the adoption process.

State rep. files bill to help Epping diner that closed over mask mandate

State rep. files bill to help Epping diner that closed over mask mandate

EPPING — A local state representative is filing a bill that would allow Roselynn Homemade Ice Cream to reopen without the fear of losing its license for not abiding by the state’s mask requirement.

The popular ice cream parlor and breakfast diner closed Oct. 30. Owner Joseph Bodge said at the time he would rather close than abide by the governor’s order that restaurant staff must wear masks when dealing directly with customers.

“We have decided to close and make a stand,” Bodge said.

State Rep. Cody Belanger, a Republican, said he’s co-sponsoring a bill with Reps. Andrew Prout, R-Hudson, and Josh Yokela, R-Fremont, that would help Roselynn and other businesses impacted by the governor’s emergency orders due to the pandemic.

The bill, he said, has "nothing to do with masks."

"It is designed to protect people from big government," Belanger said.

Thank you Epping!

I have so many people to thank from friends and family to my fellow Board of Selectmen, who I have learned so much from! But first, I want to recognize Mark Vallone & Greg Tillman, who both ran a strong campaign! We run for State Representatives because we believe in doing what’s best for our community, and it is our community that picks us to be their Representatives. Secondly, I want to thank everyone who voted for me. We worked hard and I couldn’t have done this without your help! I am so honored to have received support from so many people! Thank you to my wife Emily and my family! Without their support, I wouldn’t have run in the first place! As your Selectmen I have always said that I will bring honesty, and transparency to the Board of Selectmen. I will continue to do the same as your State Representative. I am humbled and honored to serve the Epping community in Concord. I can’t wait to get to work for the people of Epping! I will be meeting with department heads to see what they need from the State as we will be allowed to start filing legislation soon. I ask that if anyone in the community has something that is important to them, please reach out to me so that we can discuss this. We did it! And, in the end, I do not represent anyone but my community. It is important to me, that I not support a national agenda, but one that best represents my town. As I said on the phone to Former Representative Mark Vallone when he called, I will be reaching out to him often to get that balanced opinion that is needed these days. Epping, I truly can’t thank you enough for everything you have given me, and my family! When we moved to town we quickly fell in love with the people! I look forward to serving in the House of Representatives with Michael Vose, I can certainly learn a lot and I am honored to be serving with him. March will be my last term as a Selectmen, the time commitment needed for both positions is more than I can commit. But I will finish this year and finish this term protecting the pockets of Epping taxpayers as I have always done.

Thank you,

State Representative-Elect, Cody Belanger

Cody Belanger for State Representative

To the Editor:

I am choosing to support Cody Belanger for State Representative. Cody and I first met over two years ago at the transfer station when he was running for Epping Selectman. I felt that this was a great strategy knowing that only Epping residents can use the facility. I pulled over to talk to him and we discussed taxes, town services, and got to know each other. From that short interaction, I felt like Cody was a man I could support. I believe that Cody truly has Epping’s best interests at heart he has proven that as our Selectmen and will prove that when he reaches Concord.

Cody Belanger is a man of the people and he will fight for you in Concord. Whether it is for lower taxes or protecting N.H.’s most vulnerable children, Cody has proven that he will not stop until he accomplishes the goal of getting the residents of Epping what they need. Please join me in supporting Cody Belanger for State Representative on November 3rd.

It's time Epping has a loud, effective voice in Concord. Thank you Governor Sununu for your endorsement, and most importantly your support in this election.

Now, more than every we need to fight and stand up for small businesses, Epping residents and the vulnerable youth in our state. Governor Sununu knows that I will deliver, and deliver I will. I look forward to hitting the ground running on Nov. 4th.”

Campaigning in the time of COVID-19

In his next bid for State Representative, Cody Belanger, R-Epping, will look at virtually everything virtual in order to connect with voters. But he won’t ignore tried-and-true, small-town New Hampshire venues. For example, he said, “Standing at the dump will still be effective.”

Belanger, an Epping selectman and state rep hopeful, took a survey of his possible constituents to determine how campaigning will look after (or during) COVID 19. The results and his own experience showed him a different way to connect with voters, while still observing classic New Hampshire traditions.

Really New Hampshire Democrats?

To the Editor:

Round and round we go, the NH House Democrats are already lining up to take individual freedoms. They are looking to tax you in any way they can and make you pay for things that shouldn’t be left up to the working class to pay for. Already Democrats have voted for red flag laws. We continue to have this conversation that red flag laws protect individuals, but what Democrats can’t seem to get through their thick skulls, is that red flag laws only affect the law-abiding citizen.

Enough is enough, it is time we start thinking about 2020. I’m running for State Representative because I look forward to making a difference, and protecting individual liberty. I am tired of watching lawmakers infringe on personal liberty, and the rights of individuals by voting for unconstitutional changes, and I’m tired of having to worry about which tax is going to try to get passed this session.

Let’s get one thing straight an attempt to instill red flag laws is a direct attack on our constitutional rights. There is a reason why the 2nd amendment is so heavily protected: not only to stand on its own but to protect your other constitutional rights, which are also under attack but this Democrat-controlled legislature.

Let’s focus on getting New Hampshire back on track, and keep Democrats from encroaching on our paychecks and personal liberties.
