During the New Hampshire House of Representatives session HB 293 prime sponsored by Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) passed the house.
Today the New Hampshire House of Representatives voted to pass House Bill 293. New Hampshire adopting families will soon be able to breath with relief as this bill will speedup the process for adoptions for families across the state. The bill now moves on to the Senate. Rep. Cody Belanger the sponsor of the bill released the following statement:
“New Hampshire families filing for adoption who have had a child placed in their home for 2 years or more will soon be able to waive a home study in their case provided their situation applies. The long rigorous process to adopt a child needs to be faster while still protecting the best interests of the child, with the passage of this bill it would allow home studies to be waived after 2 years, not 3. As promised I will continue to fight for vulnerable children and their families. I want to thank all of the co-sponsors, everyone on the committee, and all of my colleagues who voted in support of this bill this is one step forward of many in the right direction for our families in the granite state.”
Rep. Cody Belanger (R-Epping) is a member of the Children and Family Law committee. Cody and his wife Emily are adopting their nephew, and are familiar with the adoption process.
